A blogging award? For me? Teresa Cypher, thank you very much! I visit Teresa’s blog for a unique blend of science fiction and country life, always uplifting and educational. (Witches Jelly was one of my favourites.)

In accordance with Kreativ blogger rules, accepting this award includes: 

Firstly: Thanking the blogger who nominated me for the award and providing a link back to their blog. Done!

Secondly: Listing 7 things about myself that the readers might find interesting. Easy, I thought, I am always doing ridiculous things… only to find rascally thoughts scattering and slippery…
These are the things I grabbed hold of-

1. I have punched a seagull.
2. I married Mr in a disused slate mine.
3. Have recovered from a milk phobia. I still don’t like it, but the screaming has stopped.
4. Have seen a fox doing a bright purple poo. (They eat berries.)
5. Had to complain to my landlord more than once about goats falling through the porch roof.
6. Spent two years saving up for a car, then took my children to Singapore on holiday instead. And on my return, promptly inherited a car!
7. Accidentally find that I collect bones. The gannet skull is my current favourite. Mr found me a mole, which we left on the log shed to decompose but a crow stole it.

Thirdly: Nominating 7 other bloggers, providing links to their blogs, and letting them know.
This is where my head explodes!  Who to choose, who wants the extra work, who will feel overlooked????

My best friend from PreSchool, who lived on a boat. One day the boat was scuppered. It’s a 40 year long story and she tells it beautifully in two documentaries. The first of which, ‘The Many Romances With Rosemarie,’ is a story about living on a boat, and also a strong metaphor for the hard work required to sustain a dream. The blog is not updated regularly; Shauna is very busy; but this is honest art, worth exploring.

Well, now. I just finished doing my post for this same award, to be posted on Monday, and now that I see yours, I like yours much better. Each item is short, to the point, and intriguing. Mine (TEN of 'em, I was told TEN!)are a lot more detailed, but I doubt if I'll bother changing them at this point. One other thing: I only named three other blogs, and darned if you didn't beat me to the punch on two of 'em! (Great minds think alike, right?)

Congrats on the award. It was awesome to learn seven facts about you. I think my favorite is the fact about the car. How cool is it that you inherited it after thinking of your children? Thanks for sharing.

Sue, the seagull was swooping in at my daughter's pasty lunch before I right hooked it. It then glared at us from a railing. Girl was two and highly entertained.

Spring Is Ticking

It has been a while since I wrote a blog post - I have been writing books, and keeping a diary, the days and the work aren’t lost, just ticking quietly in a corner. [There’s a little dust in that corner but the shelf is made of strong oak planks, and the light is enchanting. A plant grows in a pot, it spouts leaves. A half candle stands in a china holder.] At Paddock Garden (properly titled Paddock Garden Orchards, I am a lazy typer) a tree corral has been constructed. It contains persimmons which may not have survived the recent cold blasts and heavy rain, along with some happy pepper trees, bladdernuts, and plum yews. We plan to underplant and interplant extensively in this concentrated area. Around the grounds also we have begun some windbreak hedges, mostly of elaeagnus and hazel. We have a line of sapling native oaks edging the spinney.
